About Us

Andy

Pontbren Web Services is run by Andrew Mabbutt, who has been designing websites since the early 90's. We pride ourselves on the high quality of our work and the efficiency with which we produce it.

The Internet is an ever-changing medium (for example the growth in broadband access and mobile devices) and we constantly strive to stay at the cutting edge through a continual process of education, self-learning and development.

Web site design

We are passionate about websites. Every site is hand-coded to the highest standard - we never use templates, so your site will always be unique. Every page of your site will be externally validated with the W3C validator to ensure the code is 100% correct. We will also test your site in all the modern browsers including Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Firefox 1.5+, Opera 9+, Netscape Navigator 6. Likewise every page is automatically and manually checked to guarantee it is accessible to disabled users and alternative devices such as screen readers, Braille pads and PDA's.

Speaking & Training

We're not afraid to share our knowledge and are happy to run seminars demonstrating the benefits of good, modern web development. We keep abreast of all new developments such as Ajax, Web 2 and Microformats and evaluate how these new technologies can benefits our customers and their clients.

Audits

Many people know there's something wrong with their website but often can't put their finger on what it is - maybe it doesn't attract many visitors, or perhaps those visitors don't turn into clients. Most people can access the visual aspects of their websites but have no understanding of what goes on "under the hood". To continue the analogy we'll give your website an MOT and tell you what needs changing and why.

I believe…

The plethora of poorly designed, non-standards compliant web sites that are inaccessible to people with disabilities or those using new browsing technologies is a disgrace. The web should be for everybody and this is as much a matter of sound business practice as of moral and legal importance
